Before knowing which device or devices will work best, the level of each fingers amputation must be determined. We are able to combine various types of devices together, and the images below will help to determine which devices will work best for each finger requiring a device.

The images below show several amputation levels in blue. To the right of each hand photograph you can see a photograph of the type of X-Finger will be best suited.
If you have a unique case or simply desire our opinion on any case, please email a photograph of you or your patients hand and we will provide you with detailed information on which type or types of devices will be best suited for your needs. When taking a photograph, please place your hand flat on a table and place a ruler or measuring tape near the fingers; as shown above. Take the photograph from directly above the hand; enabling us to appropriately gauge the size.

X-Tip
Picture
X-Tips are used to replace the distal fingertip of up to four fingers on either hand. X-Tips are the lowest profile functional artificial fingers in the world. Because they are fabricated from Stainless steel they are also extremely strong. They can be used as shown in the picture above, or they can quickly be attached to a hand stabilization system in seconds for more demanding applications.
X-Tips are easily adjusted for size. The steel rings which partially surround the finger can be bent by hand. Enabling the user to make the device looser if the hand is slightly swollen, or tighter based on the user's preference at any given time. For more images showing X-tips click on the (X-Tips) page in the "more..." drop down box located at the top of the page. X-Tips can also be covered with our thermoplastic finger covers for added realism.

X-Finger
Picture
The X-Finger is our flagship model that replaces up to four missing fingers on either hand. The X-Finger was the world's first functional artificial finger for amputees; and was showcased in the United States Patent and Trademark Museum as well as the National Inventors Hall of Fame. X-Fingers are fabricated from stainless steel and move as quickly as the users prior fingers; restoring considerable strength and dexterity.
X-Fingers are extremely strong and have been used by both the US and British military. X-Fingers have rehabilitated individuals from almost every imaginable field; including machinists, professional musicians, wild animal trainers, doctors, police officers and models to name a few.

X-Fingers with Connecting Ring
Picture
X-Fingers with a connecting ring can be used to replace up to two fingers on either hand. We can replace more than two fingers on one hand, but we must utilize other models of devices; because there must be an intact adjacent finger to control this model. Therefore to control an X-Finger with a connecting ring, there must be two intact fingers to control them.

X-Fingers with a connecting ring allows the movement of the controlling finger to control the flexion and extension movements of the X-Finger. For more images showing the various types of devices we offer for X-Fingers with connecting rings click on the (entirely missing finger) page in the "more..." drop down box located at the top of the page.

X-Fingers Connected
Picture
X-Fingers can be connected together. When two fingers are missing that are beside each other, but only one of the two residual fingers is long enough to control an X-Finger, the movement of the remaining residual finger can control both X-Fingers in unison with one another.
There are three types of connected X-Fingers. Connected X-Fingers can replace the index and middle fingers, the middle and ring fingers or the ring finger and pinky finger. The image to the left shows one example of the amputation levels that can operate four connected X-Fingers. The image above shows the type of device that can be used to offer function to all four missing fingers.

X-Thumb
Picture
X-Thumbs are for individuals that have lost a  portion of their thumb. The X-Thumb allows users to control the flexion and extension of the thumb tip. The devices are stabilized to a bracket that can either be used alone; or that can be connected to our hand stabilization systems; which allow 1-4 X-Fingers to also be attached. As with all of our devices they can be custom painted in any color. We also have a variety of models to accommodate numerous thumb amputation cases. For more detailed information please email us a photograph of your thumb or your patients thumb allowing us to provide additional information regarding our capabilities regarding thumb rehabilitation.

X-Hand

Picture

X-Hands were designed for individuals that have lost 2-4 fingers with no residual finger remaining. Our prior models of devices are controlled by the remaining portion of the residual finger. But, our X-Hands are controlled by the movement of the palm and no residual finger is needed to flex and extend the fingers.
The drawback from this type of device is that all of the artificial fingers move in unison with one another. But, a benefit is that these devices are much stronger than X-Fingers as the movement is controlled by the movement of the wrist; which offers exponentially more strength. For more information on the X-Hand please feel free to email us with any questions you may have.
