If you are a finger amputee, please read the information directly below. If you are a practitioner, please scroll down to the Practitioners section.
If you are an amputee and you have health insurance, please do not contact your insurance company directly to ask if they will pay for an X-Finger. When insurance companies review an application from a professional, who can offer evidence of our devices medical necessity, your chances of being approved will significantly increase. X-Fingers require a prescription from a physician and will then be fit by a prosthetist in your area. Prosthetists are experts at communicating with insurance companies and they will be able to significantly increase your chances of being approved.
Before contacting a prosthetist, you can email us a photograph of your hand; enabling us to determine if we will be able to assemble a device for your needs. Please send the email to contact@didrickmedical.com. Then you can either contact your doctor for a referral for a prosthetist, or we can help you locate one in your area. If you would like us to locate a prosthetist for you please send us an email, including a photograph of your hand, and ask us to locate a professional in your area. If you lost your finger or fingers several years ago or no longer have communications with your doctor, the prosthetist will also be able to help you obtain a prescription.
Once you send us a photograph, and we have determined we can provide you with a device, with your permission we will email a formal estimate to your prosthetist. The prosthetist will then attempt to obtain what is called a pre-approval for your X-Fingers. This essentially means that your insurance company has agreed to pay for your device. Insurance companies commonly offer an answer within two weeks of submitting the request. But, even if the first request is denied, additional information may allow the device to still get approved. When a pre-approval is obtained by your prosthetist, they will contact us to order your device. We will assemble and ship the device, usually within 3-5 days of receiving the order.
